Sweet Beet Berry Smoothie Bowl Recipe

Sweet Beet Berry Smoothie Bowl

If you’re looking for some amazing detoxifying properties (SO important this time of year), to help cleanse and support, then this is the bowl for you. My Sweet Beet Berry Smoothie Bowl Recipe will help jump start you into the fall and winter season in a powerful and positive way.

Rather than allowing yourself to move into a hibernation-like stagnancy, why not continue to be as active as you are during the warmer months? Yes, it is possible when you incorporate beets—an amazing blood builder, that helps bring more oxygen into your system—helping with greater energy. So no excuses here…it’s time to get moving! ;)

Beauty Food: Beets

Are you like many others who have a hard time incorporating beets into their diets? You are not alone…in fact some people profess to not like beets at all. Well I’m here to let you know that it IS possible to fall in love with these ruby colored roots, and ohhh how delicious they can be.

Beets really have amazing benefits whether cooked or raw. However, if you cook them, you only need to steam them for 15 minutes or so. One of my favorite ways to have beets raw is in my Clean Red juice, found at Glow Bio.

Here are a few of my favorites standout benefits in adding this root to your smoothie bowl:

Since we really want to be cleaning ourselves from the inside out, let’s start with the fact that beets help us with detoxification. How? Beets thin bile—an alkaline fluid—aids digestion and is secreted by the liver and stored in the gallbladder. This means, we will be improving liver function and increasing detoxification—one of the biggest factors in boosting beauty from within.

Ever feel things are a bit unclear, unfocused, or foggy? This can happen when we eat foods that clog our cells and don’t allow for good oxygen flow. Great news is, the nitrates found in beets help to stimulate blood flow to the brain. Better flow to the brain means clearer thinking and clearer focus- something we all can benefit from.

How about adding gorgeous skin to the list! As you ladies know, cleansing helps to get all the sludge out, creating glowing, beautiful skin. When we add beets to the mix, they are actually stimulating cell production and repair—protecting and pampering your skin with their powerful antioxidants—keeping your skin firm, fresh, and youthful.

If that wasn’t enough, beets also support overall good health. This is due to their significant source of betalains, which give the root is deep red color. Betalains are a powerful antioxidant, anti-inflammatory and detoxifying.

My guess is, if you want to feel your absolute best, you just may start to fall in love with these red beauts!

Beauty Berries: Raspberries

One of the reasons why I love raspberries (and fruit in general), so much is because of how quickly and cleanly they breakdown and digest, without toxic residue. This is true of course, when eaten on their own.

If you top other foods with fruit, you will make digestive trouble for yourself (including bloating!). This is because fruits break down the quickest of all foods, and we don’t want them to sit on top of slower digesting foods, which can back up your system.

I know this can sound tricky but it doesn’t have to be. Just keep in mind that non-concentrated foods are ripe fruits and non-starch vegetables; everything else is a concentrated food. And the general rule to to wait three to four hours before eating one concentrated food before eating another for maximum digestion.

In this recipe you will notice I’ve properly combined the ingredients to help break it down and digest the foods more easily. We can then immediately derive energy for fuel and absorb the vitamins and countless other micronutrients to help build strong hair, great skin and overall health.

Interesting fact:

When fruit is eaten on an empty stomach it typically leaves the stomach within twenty to thirty minutes. If it sits on top of other foods, like starch and protein, it will take much longer to digest and will actually ferment in your gut.

In addition to easy digestion, berries have been shown to protect your brain from memory loss and contribute to enhanced memories. Diets rich in berries will not only improve your learning capacity, but are among the best source of antioxidants and a food you can easily purchase and incorporate into your diet.

Raspberries (all berries), really are a delicious and energetic snack, and a great addition to this lip-smacking smoothie bowl. Try to buy organic berries when in season, but you may certainly use frozen as well.

Isn’t it about that time we boost our energy and focus and promote better brain function?! I think so!
