This week’s topic is: Tips for Improving Your Mindset
Our mindset, our attitude, our mental energy that we bring to anything and everything in our lives has a profound impact on the results that we get and the way that we feel every day.
Our perspective shapes everything. It’s the energy of intention that flows through what we’re doing. Whether it’s our work, our day-to-day experience with our families or friends or quiet moments with ourselves, we focus as a society so much on outer form, on the outside.
I’ve personally experienced this. When we focus on our inner world, the outside really starts to match up instead of going about it the other way. It’s a very powerful thing to focus on improving our mindset. This is what we’re going to get into today with our Q&A.
I love the show because all of it comes right from you guys, right from your hearts. And together, as we walk along this path, we can support each other and talk about all these different topics, so we keep moving forward.

Kimberly: Hey Beauties. Welcome back to our Thursday Q&A podcast, where our topic today is Tips for Improving Your Mindset. This, of course, is a very important topic. Our mindset, our attitude, our mental energy that we bring to anything and everything in our lives has a profound impact on the results that we get, the way that we feel every day. Our perspective, of course, shapes everything. As I just mentioned, it’s the energy, the energy of intention that flows through what we’re doing, whether it’s our work, our day-to-day experience with our families, our friends, our quiet moments with ourselves. We focus as a society so much on outer form. We focus so much on the outside, but it really is true. And I have personally experienced this, that when we focus on the inner state, when we focus on our inner energies and our inner world, the outside really starts to match up instead of going about it the other way around. So it’s a very, very powerful thing to focus on improving our mindset. That’s what we’re going to get into today with these wonderful questions I see here now from our community.
Kimberly: I love the show because all of it comes right from you guys, right from your hearts. And together, we, as we walk along this path, we can support each other and talk about all these different topics, so we keep moving forward.

Question #1 around the topic of: Tips for Improving Your Mindset: I’ve been having such a bad attitude about my job lately. My boss can be very abrupt in how he speaks to me and it seems like he brings his personal troubles into the workplace. What can I do to help myself since I know I can’t do anything about him?
Kimberly: All right. All that being said, let’s get right into our questions today around our topic. Tips for improving your mindset. The first one comes from Olivia and she lives in Montana. She writes, “I’ve been having such a bad attitude about my job lately. My boss can be very abrupt in how he speaks to me and it seems like he brings his personal troubles into the workplace. What can I do to help myself since I know I can’t do anything about him?” Olivia, thank you so much for your question, my love. Thank you for being part of our community. And thank you so much for kicking off the show with this wonderful question. This really does speak to the idea that there’s going to be people around sometimes whether it’s work or colleagues, even relatives that we can’t change them. We can’t get rid of them right now in how in the moment. Maybe down the road, you do think about changing your job, but we are where we are right now. And so what do we do about that? How do we navigate that situation?
Kimberly: I think that it really does show how much our inner state is able to shape our outer world. This is something that I didn’t get for a really long time. Like most all of us, I focused a lot on the outside. I focused on the shape of my body and I focused on what other people were saying and doing and how they were annoying me. I focused so much on what things look like on the outside. But the game changer is when you realize that we really are creators, we are co-creators with the divine, with the universe, whatever word you want to use in your life. Even a lot of the things that we feel stuck with can start to shift and change and move when we work on the inner world and we work on the inner energy.
Kimberly: What I would say, Olivia, is to really fortify and strengthen yourself on the inside. When we do that, we start to put up healthy boundaries, but we start to become impenetrable to other people’s energies. When we do this, it starts to become incredibly liberating. Because people will have their stuff and people can have their energy and their attitude and their bad … Lack of a better word, just bad energy they bring to a situation. If they speak in an abrupt way, if they’re moody, you can know that that’s the way that they’re speaking to themselves. Because what we put out in the outer world is really and truly a reflection, it’s a mirror of what is happening to the inside of that person. So what we do is we strengthen ourselves and what comes with that just becomes a very cohesive, harmonious energy.
Kimberly: What I did a few years ago was this neurofeedback training in Arizona. I learned quite a lot about the brain. One of the things that I found was really interesting was this idea of hemi-coherence, which means when the left side of our brain and the right side of our brain start really sinking up and they start creating brainwaves in the same frequencies, in the same times. So the alpha brainwaves and the theta and the beta and the gamma and even waking delta. What that means is we are not a house divided. It becomes this harmonious force field, so to speak, the more we align our inner energy and people feel that. They feel that strength and they feel that power and they start to respect it, whether they realize that on a conscious level or not. The way to create hemi-coherence in your brainwaves, the way to strengthen yourself is through meditation and mindfulness. It’s not going to come from doing your work projects perfectly or saying the perfect things at the party or whatever. It really does come from that inner, inner state.
Kimberly: What I encourage you to do, Olivia, is to really do your morning practice. Really ground yourself, even if you need to get up a bit earlier, but to steady yourself and to sit with your spine straight and to let all that beautiful energy align in your spine and then into your brain and to breathe. And to really go inside before you go into the outer world i.e., your job and your work.
Kimberly: We have many free meditations over on our Solluna app, which you can find in the App Store or on our website, or of course, there’s many other meditations floating around out there. But find one that really met, that really resonates with you, that you can really build a practice around and start to go deeper and deeper and deeper.
Kimberly: The beauty of doing a consistent meditation, and in our Solluna Circle, we do a consistent meditation for a month at a time. We’re really working on a specific energy idea, a theme. And so it’s beautiful because it allows us to go deeper into that topic. In March, it’s intuition. In April, we’re going to be focusing on energy and vitality. And so the beauty of doing a practice like that for at least a month or longer, is that you can go deeper and deeper and deeper inside. That’s the theory behind doing something like a Ashtanga yoga, where you do a set series of Asana practice, or what I used to do was Dharma Mittra practice. I would do the same practice over and over again. So your body starts to understand the practice and then you start to drop deeper inside, and same with meditation.
Kimberly: So I would just meditate and really fortify yourself. As you strengthen your inner self, and you just start to build that confidence that comes from connecting to the formless part of you, Olivia, the part of you that is not what you look like. It’s not when you’re tired and there’s bags under your eyes, or the clothes you’re wearing to work, but you really start to connect to that inner, inner strength. People will start to respond, even if it’s not right away with your boss. You hold the space. One person … Marshall Rosenberg who wrote Nonviolent Communication, an incredible book turned into a series. He says, “It doesn’t take two people to form a healthy relationship.” In this way, you can actually create a healthy space just with one person.
Kimberly: You can be the one, Olivia, to come with your integrity and your self-respect and show up. If he’s going to be abrupt in how he speaks to you, you honor yourself and you hold those healthy boundaries. Eventually, that person does level up to that. It’s like when you play tennis with someone who’s better than you, it makes you play better. So you just hold the space for yourself. You can’t do anything about him, but you just connect with that inner space. And then after work, you can do whatever ritual. You get into your car, or if you’re working from home at the end of the day, you energetically or physically take a shower and just imagine with the white light, you’re cutting cords, washing that energy off you, and you just relax, and you breathe back down into your body. And you know that the more that you focus on your inner energy and building that up, the less and less people will affect you. It’s again, very liberating and very empowering to know that you can really do that. I send you so much love. Thank you for being part of our community, and thank you so much for your wonderful question.
Question #2 around the topic of: Tips for Improving Your Mindset: COVID has really messed with my head over the past year and I feel like I need a mental cleanse. Any tips I can practice to help with the anxiousness I feel in my whole body?
Kimberly: All right. Our next question comes from Abigail and she lives in Texas. She writes, “COVID has really messed with my head over the past year and I feel like I need a mental cleanse. Any tips I can practice to help with the anxiousness I feel in my whole body?” Abigail, I love this question. I send you a big virtual hug, my sister. Remember, we’re going to all get past this. We’re going to keep marching forward and we’re going to learn and we’re going to grow and we’re going to become even stronger from this experience. I think that here, you’re really bringing up an important point, which is how much our mind has a very tangible effect on our body.
Kimberly: Our body stores and encrypts so much of the energy that plays out in our mind. So we want to do a full energy cleanse, and that involves the body and it also involves the mind. One thing I would do right away, I would suggest this, and I did this recently, myself. If you have access to a bath, a bathtub, I would give yourself the time to do a really nice salt bath. It can be Epsom salts. It can be Dead Sea salts. You can get online fairly inexpensively. And to put all that salt into the bath, which is known to help extract and cleanse and clean. And do a little home ritual with a warm salt bath, and just let yourself be in there for 20-30 minutes. Light some candles. Make it ritualistic. Imagine, as you’re dipping into the water, that all this energy that’s built up in your body, your body’s been holding on to stress and anxiety and fear and whatever energies you want to release. I would go into the bath with that intention, light candles with your intention, bring your hands together in prayer, Anjali mudra, whatever feels good to you.
Kimberly: Do a meditation, do a prayer, and just imagine that all of that energy is pouring out of you and into the bath, and that you are releasing and resetting your body. And just really perform that ritual. Rituals in and of themselves can be powerful if we really bring our intention to it, we bring our hearts. It’s a way to gather energy around a very specific intention. And so that will be the beginning, Abigail, of kicking off this process of just shedding whatever happened over the past year. Really do that for your body. And then over the next 30 days or so, you don’t have to do that full ritual, but you can return to more basic ritual every evening or in the morning, what feels good to you with your body in supporting that energetic reset.
Kimberly: Something you could do can be giving yourself a little bit of a foot rub at the end of the day, maybe with some Ayurvedic herbalized oils, Sesame oil is what a lot of those are based in on your feet, just to help your feet carry you through the day. So just loving your body and letting it reset, and these oils help to promote really deep sleep and relaxation. Or it can be a little bit of Yin Yoga, stretching at the end of the day for 10 minutes to just really support that release. I would really suggest a freeform movement, or you could do this in the morning. It just make it a little bit more solar, a little bit more energizing, like a dance, or just letting yourself move in an organic way. Your body has so much wisdom and your body will help you release what energy it needs to if you don’t try to lead it too much, but you allow that organic movement to flow and to take place.
Kimberly: I would try that over the next 30 days, kicking it off with a salt bath and then doing something consistent for the next 30 days, again, with that intention to release. So I would sit, close your eyes, put your hands together in that prayer position, and set your intention, and then go into the movement to really let that flow to whatever you’re doing. And then I would say again, just mentally … This is a really wonderful time to journal and to process what you’ve learned, what this has brought up for you, this experience of isolation, great change, the unknown. What has this sort of triggered from things in the past or just anything and everything that it may have triggered or brought up for you.
Kimberly: And so I would let yourself have some time to journal and to process because that’s how we start to let go of things is we don’t ignore them, we don’t have to delve into everything in the past over and over again, but we need to let the feelings rise up and to feel them, and then we can start to let them go more and more. So I would suggest really sending some time for journaling. And then what I was just saying to, Olivia, reconnecting to the inner space. Really dialing in your inner practices, your prayer, your meditation. Having time in the morning, in the evening to set and to breathe and to focus your energy, going back into your third eye, just the space, the chakra in between your eyebrows, about an inch or so higher.
Kimberly: When we focus on that place, which is a big focal point in meditation, it’s when we start to see beyond what our physical eyes see. This is what the yogis talked about, higher perception. It’s not just physical seeing, but able to see beyond the here and now, to see beyond the stress of the situation that’s right in front of us, but to see that we’re part of something much greater. And to see this greater picture, this energy flow that is us and is part of us and flows through us. But there’s also that we’re a wave that’s part of this much bigger ocean. And the more we start to see that, the more we start to relax in our everyday lives. Because we realized that as impactful and as heavy and as big as things seem in the moment, they don’t have to be as ultimately as serious and ultimately as heavy. We can start to see that there’s more to life and there’s more to us than just this here and now.
Kimberly: Again, I really suggest, Abigail, dialing in your practice, getting into that, and that will really help you shed all this anxiousness and help you move forward. Sending you such big love, sister, over there in Texas. I’m so grateful for you and for you being part of our community. I will be here for you and your journey. Please continue to check in with us and let us know how you’re doing and to keep the questions coming. Again, so much love.
Break
Kimberly: All right, Beauties, we are going to take a short break here. When we come back, we have two more questions for you on this topic of tips for improving your mindset.
Kimberly: All right, my loves, we have two more questions for you on this question about improving your mindset. As I will say, again, this is such a huge topic because our inner world directly shapes our outer world, even though we often feel and we’re taught in our society about circumstance and people are lucky and some people are not, and some people are born pretty and some people are not, and some people have more money and some people are not. It’s really, when we start to see past that, we start to understand that mindset and inner energy, I would go beyond the mind, I would go to the inner energy, the formless place within you, really does shape everything.
Kimberly: I think about my mother specifically, as an example of this. The anniversary of her passing was just a few days ago, so she’s really been on my mind lately more than usual, even more than usual. She was born in the Philippines and she came from very humble means and she had many brothers and sisters, and my grandfather was a carpenter and my grandmother was a school teacher. When you look at her life and you look at where she grew up, and I actually went to visit their home in the Philippines some years ago when I was backpacking. It was really just two rooms and a little yard and there were many children and many parents, the two parents and over six brothers and sisters. The reason I am so fuzzy on the numbers is that a younger child did perish early. Infant mortality is quite common in certain countries. And so there were six, but there were more.
Kimberly: Anyways, she grew up in a very humble circumstances, but she was so driven and focused and her mindset was very positive and very … She was unlimited in her potential and she knew that. And so she was able to come to the United States on an academic scholarship. She came here and she went to Fordham University. She was sponsored by an Irish family called the [McCabes 00:20:03] and they took her in and her life took a very different direction from her mindset. Otherwise, she would’ve stayed in the Philippines and lived her life out there. It would just be a very, very different direction.
Kimberly: Again, if we took that attitude of saying it’s circumstance, circumstance, you could look at my mom and say, she didn’t speak English very well and she grew up in a very poor place. Those were her circumstances and she could have done the best there, but that’s where she was born and that’s how she could have lived out her life, but she found a way out. She found a way with her strength to be such an amazing student and to study and to study, and then to take the initiative to apply for a scholarship and to get the scholarship and to get past her fear, and to get on the plane and to come to the United States. She had her first job actually on Wall Street. She had this scholarship and then from there, she got another scholarship to get an MBA. She talked about the prejudice she experienced with her, first of all, being a woman and having a very heavy accent and looking the way that she looked and all sorts of things. But I think about that strength and I think about how much she changed her life. She literally uprooted herself and was able to move across the world to a foreign country and then to establish a completely different life.
Kimberly: When I think about this topic and I think about mindset, I know that there’s nothing you and I also can’t do, but we are our own worst enemies. We are the ones that hold ourselves back, unfortunately, with our self-doubt and with our attitudes and with our limited beliefs. But here’s the thing, right here right now, as we sit together, listening to this, we can decide to make a bigger change. We can decide to shift and we can decide to move ourselves out of where we are into more aligned, more plentiful, beautiful, abundant, prosperous circumstances, where we feel good, where we are surrounded by love, where we give love, where we have compassion for ourselves and others. All of this is possible and it does start from our intention. The mindset is the beginning and then what I believe is that spiritually we start to align to that and everything just starts to grow from that root place.
Kimberly: So no matter where we are today, no matter what age we are, we could be eighties, we can start to shift today and make changes. It is so up to us. We are so much more powerful than we realize. I know you’ve heard that, but sometimes we don’t get that fully. It’s an understanding that I think develops over time. I know that’s been my experience. I heard that many times. I didn’t really get it. But especially for the last few years, I feel like my growth in this area has accelerated because I focused on lifestyle, I focused on meditation, I focused on our four cornerstones. Let’s get into our next question, but I really want to impress that on you, that you can change your life right now, starting from the inside, and then the outside will start to catch up. It really truly 100% is true.
Question #3 around the topic of: Tips for Improving Your Mindset: I’m striving to be successful in my life and my business, but I feel that I need to uplevel my mindset. Where do I even begin? I am so overwhelmed.
Kimberly: Our first question, next question comes from Luna and she lives in Oklahoma and she writes, “I’m striving to be successful in my life and my business, but I feel that I need to uplevel my mindset. Where do I even begin? I am so overwhelmed.” I will say, Luna, that this is a wonderful question. It just shows the interconnectedness of everything. I will go to the four cornerstones here, where I want you to begin is to think about your life, you as a whole being. And so to uplevel your life, we want to support your beingness in a holistic way. So food wise and here, thinking about our theme in our Solluna Circle this month, which is energy and vitality, this is a good time, the beginning of spring to think about those foods that would really support you in this way.
Kimberly: Again, if you guys have heard me talk about the Circle, I’ll just call out that it’s our membership part of our app. It’s a wonderful, wonderful way to really take a deep dive on yourself and self-growth and if you’re looking to really improve your mindset. It’s a supportive community with daily support. We have a monthly live circle. So that’s something you may want to consider in investing in yourself. It’s only 14.99 a month, but you can really dive in and you can really … It’s the cost of less than one yoga class a month. It’s an opportunity to sit with like minded sisters and to really go in. Anyways, I’m inviting you personally, if you’re listening to this, I think you’ll really vibe with us.
Kimberly: But from this question being successful in your life, I’d like talk about foods. It’s very difficult to be fully embodied with success, which is more than money. It’s alignment, it’s energy, it’s where you feel connected to your truth and your living from your heart on a day-to-day basis. Food wise, we want to create foods that are sattvic, which in Ayurvedic Sanskrit terms means balanced. That aren’t going to put you into overactive mode, which can foster and fuel anxiety. We don’t want to consume foods that will also be tamasic or depleting and just make your energy feel more slothful.
Kimberly: Sattvic foods are plant-based, are greens and sprouts and fruit and easily digestible foods, smoothies. Great time right now to get back into your GGS if you fell off. Power protein smoothie. I’m having one every day with spirulina and sprouts and all of those high prana foods, chia seeds.
Kimberly: We have so many different recipes. We talk about and highlight so many different foods in my books and on our website. Just think Sattvic as alive. So lots of raw food right now as well and energizing foods that give you energy versus take away your energy. It’s a time now to back off any dairy and gluten, vegetable oils, vegetable oil containing products like the chips and just a lot of the packaged foods. Try to cook your food from scratch even if it’s simple. One-pot meals are great throughout the year, lots of salads. When you bring that energy of aliveness into your foods, it’s going to help your body feel more alive. It’s going to bring that success and that abundance into your life. Because abundance is growing. Think about the energy of it. It’s beautiful. It’s like a waterfall. It’s not stagnant and it’s not depletive. So match that with your foods and you will support that energy in your life.
Kimberly: Body wise, it’s a great time, like I was saying earlier to Abigail, it’s a great time to do some movement right now to clear stagnation, to bring that dynamic energy through your body and into your life. So freeform yoga, going on walks, being in nature, letting your body move and shake off any old energy. Taking Detoxy as well. This oxygen is going to help flush and cleanse your body and to bring more newness just throughout your whole being, throughout your whole core.
Kimberly: Emotionally, I would emphasize to really write out, to be clear about your goals and your intentions, and to write that out on a regular basis and to reflect and to think about, where am I not in alignment with my goals? Where do I need to clean up the situation? Without beating yourself. Or where do I need to ground into myself? What do I need to let go of? What resentments? Where can I bring in forgiveness? Where can I bring in more compassion? Where did I let my mood get the best of me? Just regular self-reflection and journaling, I think is very powerful as well as community like the Solluna Circle, I’ll say one last time, to support your intentions.
Kimberly: And then spiritually, to really meditate, to dial in your practice, mindfulness, prayer, what resonates for you. For me, I say meditation because it’s, in my opinion, the most powerful way to connect in. And the more you connect in and align, like I was saying earlier, your outer success will start to come in droves and we’ll start to build. Because alignment in the inner world will create alignment in your outer world. It’s the truth. There’s no way to get around that. Everything is energy. I wholeheartedly believe that, and I’ve witnessed it to the nth degree in my own life and in others’ lives. So I really encourage you to focus, Luna. Yes, take the steps. You need to do the hard work with your business and doing all that, but really to focus on the inner state as well and to honor that and to really prioritize it.
Question #4 around the topic of: Tips for Improving Your Mindset: My beliefs about myself are limiting me in losing the last 10 pounds. Any suggestions on how to create a healthier belief system?
Kimberly: All right, my love, thank you so much for your question. I send you so much love and keep in touch with us. I’m so grateful for you. Next question comes from Emma who lives in France and she writes, “My beliefs about myself are limiting me in losing the last 10 pounds. Any suggestions on how to create a healthier belief system?” Emma, sending you big love out there in France.
Kimberly: I’m a big believer in, first of all, self-reflection, everything we’ve talked about with the four cornerstones and meditation. I’m also a big believer in affirmations. Not affirmations done in this just casual way where we’re saying stuff, or we see a quote on Instagram or social media, and we’re like, “Yeah, yeah, sounds good, feels good.” But then we don’t really honor it. We don’t really believe what we’re saying. And so we’re just kind of like rattling off words and it doesn’t always feel aligned. It doesn’t really feel effective, and it’s not. Because if you’re not doing it with your full concentration and energy, then affirmations aren’t going to work. But if you start to think … Write out, Emma, some very simple ones that you don’t have to read off a page, but that you can just say to yourself, a belief. Write out in your journal and start to integrate.
Kimberly: For instance, it could be, “I can … I’m unlimited in what I create.” I’m just making this up now here on the spot. You have to really make it personal to you. “I am powerful and I have the ability to lose this weight easily and with ease and with flow. I lose the weight easily. I shed excess energy that no longer serves me, including this excess weight.” That one really landed for me. “I shed excess energy, including this weight that no longer serves me.” Because I know that excess weight we hold on to is energetic. Yes, we want to change our diet and our society, again, focuses so much on form. So it’s the food we eat and the way we exercise, the exercise machines, the things you see, yes, that’s important and that will help you lose weight. But there is a huge energetic component to losing weight that I have seen with clients.
Kimberly: I’ve seen clients lose 80 pounds, 20 pounds, 10 pounds, 20, 30 pounds. I’ve worked with so many different people in losing weight and myself. Once I lost those last 14 pounds, I haven’t … Some have come up and I know when I’m energetically holding, I was holding in past relationships that didn’t feel really aligned. So for me, this energetic part of your belief system, I shed excess energy that doesn’t serve me anymore, including weight, but it also includes beating yourself up; body shame, unhealthy belief systems around yourself, all of these things. So really closing your eyes, saying the affirmation out loud, then starting to say it silently to yourself after you meditate, before you meditate in a quiet space, focusing on integrating those energies into yourself and into your body and into the deep, deep subconscious part of your brain. It will start to register and take root from that place.
Kimberly: It’s very powerful. I would create an affirmation around this that resonates deeply with you, Emma. It could be the one I said, “I shed excess energies that no longer serve me, including excess weight, including this last 10 pounds.” Or however you want to say it. Just really start to integrate that and believe it and it will start to work in your life. Again, I’ll just emphasize one last time that weight isn’t just about what you’re eating, but it’s energy in general. So I love you. I’m rooting for you. Keep in touch with us. Thank you so much for being part of our whole community. So much love, so much gratitude for you. Again, we’re always.
Thought of the Week
Kimberly: Beauties, this was a great one. I love these questions. Please keep them coming. And we’ll keep talking about all these different issues, which are so impactful and really affect all of us. I love you so much. My quote of the week I want to leave you with is this, “Focus on the inside and the outside will start to catch up. Focus on the inside and the outside will start to catch up.” Remind yourself of this when the outside isn’t catching up as quickly as you want it to. Just keep doing your practices, work on your four cornerstones, focus on the inner space and the outside will start to catch up truly. It’s the way it works. The inside does shape the outside and you will start to see tangible, outer changes, but work on the inside first.
Kimberly: I love you so much. I’m so grateful. I’ll see you over in our Solluna app, on our website, mysolluna.com, where there are show notes and lots of links to other podcasts that we have and resources. Also, on Instagram @_kimberlysnyder. I’ll also see you back here Monday for our next interview podcast. Lots of love and see you soon, my love, my beauty. Take care.
