This week’s topic is: How to Build Strength in Your Life through Peace Using the 4 Cornerstones
We don’t always think about the connection between peace and strength. We think, oh, peace, that’s what we want to be. We feel relaxed, we feel really good, and then we think about being strong. And we may often think that we need to push or grip down, however, we don’t often correlate the two. And there is a very powerful connection between them, which we will get into our show today.
And as always, I will be providing you with very practical tips across all of our lifestyle areas, our Four Cornerstones, food, body, emotional wellbeing, and spiritual growth to foster more peace. And through that peace, more deep strength, the strength that makes us feel really resilient, grounded, aligned, and feeling good.

Namaste loves and welcome to our Monday’s solo cast show, where our topic today is creating more strength in your life through peace using the four cornerstones. So we don’t always think about a connection between peace and strength. We think, oh, peace, that’s what we wanna be. We feel relaxed, we feel really good, and then we think about being strong. And we may often think that we need to, to push or we need to sort of get gritty and grip down, but we don’t often correlate the two. And there is a very powerful connection between them, which we will get into our show today. And as always, I will be providing you with very practical tips across all of our lifestyle areas, our four cornerstones, food, body, emotional wellbeing, and spiritual growth to foster more peace. And through that peace, more deep strength, the strength that makes us feel really resilient, grounded, aligned, makes us feel good.
The title of the show, title of our whole show, really good as we move through our days and through our lives in general. I will say that this show today is inspired by one line from, uh, Ayurvedic doctor that I love very much. And we’re having her back on the show, Dr. Manisha, with her husband, Dr. Sujas in a few weeks. But she mentioned to me, Shanti breeds Shunti, or where there is Shanti, there is Shunti. Shanti is the Sanskrit word, four peace. Shunti is energy, creative force, creative power, that’s strength of creation and aligning our will. So when we have peace, we have more strength. And I’m very excited to dive deeper into that, this whole incredibly rich topic.
Fan of the Week
But before we do wanna give a shout out to our fan of the week. And his or her name is knguerra. And she writes, not only is Kimberly a beacon of encouragement and support through her podcast, but I must review how amazing the Solluna digestive enzymes are. I have holistically mentioned a colon disease for the past seven years. However, I’m still sensitive to uncomfortable bloating after eating. I was skeptical of trying digestive enzymes, but got to the point where I was wanting to try anything. When I tell you I noticed a difference with the first dose I took, I was shook. I did not expect results so quickly. I can feel the difference in my body and physically see less bloat. The Solluna digestive enzymes have been a game changer and I cannot say thank you enough to Kimberly. I’m so glad I tried the product now because it will be a staple in my life. Thank you, Kimberly. Thank you Solluna, please try the digestive enzymes. It is so worth it. Well, knguerra, thank you so much my love for your review of our show and also practically speaking, our digestive enzymes, which we offer on the Solluna site and just how it all really ties together.
So this is just a great example of how the cornerstones work. We wanna feel really good. We can’t feel good if our bodies are bloated, if there’s discomfort, if something’s going on in one area of our life, we can’t really sit to meditate and feel peaceful if we are burping up our lunch the whole time, or we can feel constipation in our system, or we are just emotionally distraught. We’re in fight or flight, we are in trigger mode, whatever it is. So that’s why we work together to really create a self-care system so we can feel the best in our life. So thank you so much knguerra Solluna for being here, for being part of the community. I send you so much love, I’m so grateful for you.

Solocast:……
All right, let’s get right into our show today. I absolutely love this topic. I think it’s very powerful. And once we start to see things in this way, it creates a ripple effect just by having this understanding. This is the seed, this is the, the planting of change is really just being exposed to seeing thing, seeing something, an awareness. It starts to create a real ripple effect. And so this is a, um, a powerful concept to introduce that peace creates deep strength in our life. And so I wanna start with the body cornerstone today. And when we have, uh, peace in our body, it really does translate to a higher of life and more fulfillment and peace and enjoyment. And so when we talk about peace in the body, we can think about it in different ways in different contexts.
One is having a really strong microbiome. So the reason this creates peace is because we know there’s so much of a, a connection with our neurotransmitters, with our moods. When we feel that sense of stability in our microbiome, our immunity will be, will be higher, our hormones will be balanced or more balanced. And so across the body, there is this deeper sense of equanimity. Peace in the body also means that we are not inflamed. There isn’t high levels of inflammation or, or low grade chronic inflammation going on all the time, which can create pain. It can create aches, stiffness, soreness, and lead to illness and disease, which is of course the opposite of peace. When our bodies are peaceful, it means we are in a balanced state between our parasympathetic and our sympathetic nervous system so that we are not in fight or flight, we are in a relaxed state of receptivity and we can take inspired action, but we are not constantly depleting ourself, wearing ourselves down, which again, is the opposite of peace.
So let’s go into some of that. With a healthy microbiome, it means that these trillions of little beings living inside of us are in harmony. And so, you know, and it’s funny that, um, the, the fan of the week this week, Kayan Garrett touched on this a little bit. I don’t look at the fans of the week, they’re sent to me and then I read them for the first time with you together in full spontaneity. But this ties in, you know, Kayan Garra was talking about digestive enzymes. And in the modern world, we do need some support for our bodies. It is because as we all know, there is a lot of pollution and there is disruption. There is a lot of, um, materials that are manmade, whether they be in the food, water supply or in the air that is disruptive to us. And also the pace of modern life.
And we don’t need to go into it too much, but I will say that we need some aids for our structure, for our bodily temple in order to feel our best and to be our best. And so I’ll just mention briefly that we have these really wonderful digestive products at Solluna, and there’s only three of them because these are the ones that work very powerfully to create that balance. The digestive enzymes help to break down the food more efficiently so you don’t get bloated and you take in nutrients. The detoxy helps to move matter through your system more efficiently. So you have bigger bowel movements without dependency or irritation, and getting the waste out is key. And then the SBO probiotics are feelgood sbo probiotics, which are clinically researched, emulate the healthy soil. So they help to put the microbiome back in balance. And you know, it’s really wonderful and ideal to take two every day just like I do.
I never skip ever <laugh>. So other things for your microbiome are to be aware of foods that create any sort of irritation or, you know, um, make you go to the bathroom right away, or, you know, instantly create bloat, diarrhea, some sort of ibs. We wanna make sure that we are avoiding excessiveness in some of the foods that across the board we know aren’t great, like sugar, processed sugar, the white flowers. These are not nurturing to our system. Dairy, which is designed for baby cows, not humans. So we wanna just nurture this peacefulness in our gut through products and through just being aware of the foods that we put in. And we also want to nurture our, the peace in our body through the ways that we move, the ways that we care for our body through touch. And this is a recina philosophy practice in our Veda.
Making sure to oil the body through a Bianca or even just some hand cream on your hands or your feet before you go to bed, touch helps to nurture your nervous system. It helps to relax it. So just finding, think about the energy of peace and what that feels like and how can you bring that energy that care to your body, the ways that you care for it, the ways that you lovingly touch it in the shower with soap or body wash, stretching your body after you exercise, mixing up your workouts and your routines. If it feels like you’re depleting yourself or you’re straining yourself. You don’t have to exercise the same way all the time. So yes, we wanna be fit, but there are many ways to do it. And I remember seeing a, um, physio at, in high school when I was in the midst of my body dysmorphia and a lot of self infliction of pain, just wanting to be perfect and be a certain weight, and my knees hurt so much.
And I remember he said to me, you really can’t run right now for a while. And I was like, but I have to. Like, this is what I do. This, I burn calories, <laugh>. And he was like, well, there’s other things you can do. You know, you can walk or you, and at the time it just felt like, no, no, no, this is the way I have to do it. And there was so much rigidity and so much chaos in my mind and in my body. It’s much pain. And so now I can say, you know, I don’t push myself and deplete my body in the same way. And ironically, I feel more fit. I think I look more fit, I have better results. So the opposite of this rigidity and clamping down is peace. So try to find ways in which you can bring that peaceful energy to anything related to your body, your body care, your exercise, your stretching, the way you touch your body to your microbiome, and to your daily routines and practices.
The body’s very tied to our next cornerstone, which is emotional wellbeing. This fe the feelings in the body of like, ugh, ah, you know, just the, the, the panic modes, the fear, the the pushing we put our bodies through start in the seed of the mind with our emotions. So what we wanna do to create peace is to focus on the steady place underneath the behaviors and the emotions and the sensations and the feelings, which can take us for a real roller coaster ride every day. Underneath is a steadiness. Underneath is a is a deep well of peace. So we’re either gonna cultivate being in that peace more and more, or we notice when we are not in that place and we take the pause again. Self-care means we show up for ourselves. We don’t abandon ourselves. We help to regulate ourselves back to get to that peace.
And then we find emotional and mental strength and resilience. And we feel that we are really strong because we do have this ability to stay peaceful. And when we’re peaceful, we’re able to make better decisions. We don’t have to clean up a big mess afterwards, or we don’t have to clean it up as much when we have an outburst or we say something we’re not proud of or that we didn’t mean. So we create more of this peaceful emotional state. And then it translates to great strength. We realize that we do not have to give into all these different triggers. We don’t have to cater to other people’s opinions and ideas of us and what they think of us and what they think in general. We don’t have to identify with our feelings and emotions. And then this translates to greater physical strength because we’re also not taking our bodies on that roller coaster, that up and down, that swing of our hormones and a swing of fight or flight and cortisol and the acid that literally gets released into our blood and affects our skin and our hair and our vitality overall.
It weakens us when we really believe all our feelings and beliefs all the time and sensations rather than witnessing them and understanding that they are just passing energies through. So the first thing is we wanna connect to the peace inside, which will cross into our spiritual cornerstone, which we’ll talk about more in a moment. But we really wanna feel that this is our natural state to be an equanimity, to be calm. And this is something that the great yoga guru, Paramahansa yoga Nanda teaches all the time. Our natural state is calmness, is this piece. This is where we create our best stuff. That’s what I wrote about in the book, in the chapter, in the latest book. You’re more than you think you are chapter, you are creator. Your best staff is gonna come when you are in this steadiness and out of the steadiness, like a calm lake that reflects the moon, it reflects the potentiality of inside of you of spirit.
Out of this calmness arises beauty, it arises beautiful ideas and powerful creations and things that you can manifest. But we, if we are rocked by our emotions all the time, it weakens us and it weakens our ability to manifest. So practically speaking, we wanna connect to that peace again, which we can do through meditation, and we can do through creating more stillness and silence in our lives. And we wanna hold onto that. So this can be a daily commitment, an intention we make at the beginning of the day, an affirmation, something like, I am steadfastly, peaceful and calm, and I connect to that. I anchor to that throughout my day. I am steadfastly peaceful and calm, and I will anchor to that peace throughout this day. Or simply I will anchor to the peace inside of me throughout this day. So we start with an affirmation or an intention, and we want to renew that intention every morning because that regularity and that consistency also builds strength.
And then we notice, we start to notice and create this emotional intelligence when something bothers us or we feel, ah, we start to notice these sensations in the body. So this becomes our signal, wow. For me, it’s a hollowness in my belly and I start to feel it. And then sometimes there’s this fiery energy of like, ugh, I wanna, you know, talk back or say, no, that’s not how it is. Or you’re getting this wrong, or misunder, whatever it is, this fire comes forth and this, these are signs for me personally. Oh, you’re triggered right now. Or there’s emotional upheaval and we’re not in this complex anymore. So I recognize that. And what I do is, and again, I’m not perfect, we’re on this journey, but it’s a signal to me to put that awareness back on regulating myself. So it means, until I speak, until I take action, I will focus on just showing up for myself.
What do I need? Well, what I often need is just a moment. I need to take some deep breaths. I need to calm myself down. I just take a moment to calm the sensations in my body and I stay with myself. Sometimes this means I need to go to the bathroom. If I’m with a group of people or I’m in a meeting, or you know, even when I’m with my kids, I just have to literally excuse myself and take a break. And so, however, you need to show up for yourself to calm yourself. Sometimes I need physical touch. And the trauma expert Peter Levine, Dr. Peter Levine, talks about grabbing the outsides of opposite arms. So creating a container of space, you can feel the boundaries of your body and remind yourself that you’re safe, everything’s okay. Or for me, I take both of my hands right over left on my heart and I just say, okay, I’m safe.
You know, I’ll wait till my heartbeat starts to calm down. But this is part of self-care. We work to come back to peace. And then our emotions do not weaken us. They do not weaken our bodies. So we’re all gonna feel big feelings, but we wanna create that awareness of calming the big feelings before we project them out through words, actions, any, anything We’re we’re taking outside of ourself to the outside world. And so, you know, sometimes we mess up, sometimes I’m annoyed or angry and I will say something to someone and then it’s not nice, right? We have to clean it up. We have to say, oh man, I didn’t really mean it the way that came out. I was really triggered. We apologize. It’s weakening. It takes time and energy away from our day and away from our, you know, what we’re wanting to create.
So instead we just wanna step back, take a deep breath, regulate ourselves, and then we can continue to move forward. Our next cornerstone is spiritual growth. And this is tied to the emotional part because if we don’t have a sense of connection to the true self, to who you really are, we are going to be rocked more on the why, the emotions by the emotional body. Because we are over identifying with our ego. We don’t really know who we are. And so we are gonna be tossed in the waves of life up and down, up and down. And we’re never gonna feel stable. So we’re never gonna feel peaceful unless we find that more and more underneath who I thought I was, which is what I look like or what I’m doing, how much money I have, what my achievement are. That’s what I thought I was.
Oh, but then I get to a place in my spiritual growth and my personal journey where I realize that is not who I am. I am something so much more. I am the formless energy inside of me. I am spirit individualized inside. I am a unique energy. I can feel this unique energy in my intuition and coming through my heart. This alone will give you great peace because you don’t have to be so stressed about the surface of life. You don’t have to be so stressed about other people and what they’re doing and them validating you or criticizing you or agreeing with you. You do not have to be so stressed about getting older or your looks changing when you get pregnant or post-pregnancy or whatever it is, because you realize, we realize more and more who we really are. And so this piece creates great strength.
It’s a steadiness, it’s showing up, it’s being able to express love through your life into others’ lives more and more every day. Living from a place of great love and compassion and understanding is the place of great strength. And so we deepen this connection through our meditations, which is the unplugging of the senses and the identification of the external world into spinal and central nervous system. Energy and identification inside of your spine and your central nervous system is the way that we connect to spirit. This is a teaching from Theves, from Paramahansa Yogananda. So one of the limbs of yoga is prya hara, which is the withdrawal of the senses outside and pulling in into the spine, into the kundalini energy, into the chakras. The main chakras are on your spine down from the, the lower, the lowest, the Mola chakra all the way up to the crown.
So when we meditate, we’re not just sitting in silence and calming ourselves down, although that is a preliminary step. We are coming in and connecting to this incredible unlimited well of power inside of us. So this is peace. This is saying, oh man, this stuff happening in my life doesn’t have to be so serious. It doesn’t have to bother me so much. Of course, we need to create, uh, prosperity and sustain ourselves and live healthy, happy lives. But all the surface stuff, all the little annoyances, it’s not so serious. So again, it gives us strength to focus on what matters. It gives us strength to see people where they are, who they really are inside of them, and help lift them up. It gives us strength to be of more service in our lives because we transcend the pettiness of the ego. So more peace, we’ll build the more focus and energy we put onto our daily meditation practice.
And we have all of our practical enlightenment guided meditations for you over on the website. I’m actually recording a new one this week on unshakable piece, so you can check that out. They’re all under 10 minutes. So they’re all accessible. They’re, some of them are shorter, seven or eight minutes. So you can work it into your morning routine and also into your evening routine. And so you can really start to build energy builds with consistency. So consistent meditation will be the most powerful way that you can benefit your whole life. And so now we close with our food cornerstone. And the way to build peace and strength through your life and strength through peace in your life is through focusing on sut foods. And so we will link in the show notes to a whole expanded podcast on SUT foods and seeing the energy behind the foods you are ingesting.
But I will say here that sut means centered, peaceful, aligned. And so in the Ayurvedic system, the Ayurvedic medical system, sattvic foods include fresh plant foods, colorful foods, fruits and veggies, nuts, seeds, and whole grains. So basically everything that we’ve been teaching here in the Beauty Detox SA Luna program, it all lines up. And then you see, oh wow, this has been a teaching from thousands of years ago and this is the experience I’m having now in my body. And now there’s more and more clinical modern research backing this up. So it all starts to converge. And so the rishi’s and the, and the gurus have always taught that plant foods are the way to peace. Because if we’re eating animal foods, animals have been killed. And there is an energy in that. There’s a karma that one takes on if they are killing the animal or by buying food, they are participating in killing.
So a himsa is violence and in the very truest sense, it’s having intention to harm or kill any living being. And this does include animals. So take from this what you will, again, our community is not all or nothing, but I offer you what the teachings say. And so if you do wanna include some animal foods in your diet, it’s not, you know that we’re that wrong, like we cast you out or anything like that. But it’s something to be aware of. Growing peace means growing compassion. So maybe you choose to have less animal foods, smaller portion sizes, and you of course are aware of sourcing. Although, although the truth is if an animal is grown in the wild or grown in pastureland and has a happier life or in a factory farm, that factory farmed animal will suffer more across their life. But the animals are still being killed across the board and there is actually a lot of environmental pollutants that accrue and animals that are pasture raised, which is another issue altogether.
So anyways, in a general sense, no matter what your diet looks like overall, the more plant foods you include, the more soic peaceful energy will be in you. And again, that will lend it to lend yourself to great strength, resilience, and the love pouring out of you that gives you so much power in your own life, in your ability to change lives and the ability to move mountains. Love is that magic energy that changes everything it touches. So to cultivate peace, we need to look at it and, and and strength in this holistic way of the four cornerstones. So your body, we cultivate peace through a balanced microbiome through the ways in which we move and exercise and stay peaceful and calm. The ways we touch our bodies with love and connection and compassion. And then emotionally in our emotional wellbeing, mental health cornerstone, we wanna connect to the peace that’s underneath all human emotions and more and more, not identify or act from a place of dysregulation, but wait till we get back to peace before we speak or we act.
We want to cultivate through our spiritual growth cornerstone, the great peace and strength that comes from aligning to the power of peace inside of you and the harmony that’s inside of you in your central nervous system. The true self. We do this primarily FU meditation. And then our food cornerstone, we wanna focus on suic foods, which include vegetables, fruits, seeds, nuts and grains as a way to live a more healthy, balanced, and peaceful life. So remember where there is shunti, there is [inaudible] where there is peace, there is energy, creative power, and great strength. So I hope that this podcast inspired you to align, to take some of these steps, action tips, lifestyle tips, self-care tips into your own life. And I wish you so much peace as we continue to journey together. I’m so grateful for our connection. Thank you for listening. Thank you so much for being part of our community.
